Nashua Symphony Chorus

Diane Cushing, Director of Choral Activities

Founded in 1964, the Nashua Symphony Chorus (formerly known as the Nashua Symphony Choral Society) is a highly respected volunteer chorus committed to excellence in choral performance. Under the direction of Diane Cushing, the group numbers approximately 80 talented area individuals and this year performs on five concerts as part of the Nashua Symphony’s 2009-10 subscription season. In 1976, 1978, 1980, 1982 and 1985, the Nashua Symphony Chorus embarked on European tours, joining other choruses for performances in England, Scotland, Wales, Denmark, Belgium, Austria and Italy.

2009-10 will see the Nashua Symphony Chorus performing on five subscription concerts, including John Rutter’s Mass of the Children, seasonal favorites at our Holiday Concert, Selections from Porgy & Bess, American Spirituals, Borodin’s Polovetsian Dances, and the world premiere of The Cry From All by NH composer Malcolm Hawkins, commissioned by the NSA as part of its Ripple Effect project.

Since Ms. Cushing’s arrival in August 2006, the NSC has achieved new levels of success. Ms. Cushing’s 15-year tenure as Founding Director of the Mount Wachusett Community Chorale and her current faculty position as Director of the Keene State College Concert Choir bring a wealth of experience to our ensemble. It has been a period of intense growth for the Chorus that has deepened relationships, enriched the sound, and broadened the audience.Chorus Sings Beethoven
